Am Dekanat der Abteilung Volkswirtschafts­lehre der Universität Mannheim ist zum 1. Mai 2026 eine Stelle als

Fremdsprach­ensekretär*in (m/w/d) (E7 TV-L) 

unbefristet im Umfang von 75 % (derzeit 29,63 Wochenstunden) zu besetzen. 

Ihr zweisprach­iges (Deutsch und Englisch) Aufgabengebiet umfasst:

• allgemeine Sekretariatsaufgaben mit internationaler Korrespondenz
• Materialbeschaffung, Rechnungs­bearbeitung und Bewirtschaft­ung des Dekanatskontos
• administrative Unter­stützung der Promotions­verfahren
• administrative Unter­stützung der Berufungs­verfahren

Ihr Profil:

• eine abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung zum*r Bürokaufmann*frau, Fremdsprach­ensekretär*in o. ä.
• sehr gute Deutsch- und Englisch­kenntnisse (mindestens C1-Niveau) in Wort und Schrift
• sehr gute Kenntnisse in der Anwendung der gängigen Büro-Software
• ausgeprägte Organisations­fähigkeit, eigenständige Arbeits­weise, Sorgfalt, Diskretion, interkulturelle Kompetenzen
• Freude an Verwaltungs­aufgaben

Erfahrungen in den administrativen Abläufen des öffentlichen Dienstes sind von Vorteil. Wir bieten Ihnen ein verlässliches und interessantes internationales Arbeits­umfeld. Die Beschäftigung erfolgt nach den Bestimmungen des Tarifvertrags für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder (TV-L). In a joint appointment process, the Department of Economics at the School of Law and Economics at the University of Mannheim and the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim are looking to fill the position of

Professor of Economics, Labor Markets and Inequality (W2)

limited to a period of six years. The limitation of the employment relations­hip is based on Section 50 subsection (2) sentence 1 no. 5 of the Act on Higher Education of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LHG). The job holder will be assigned to the Centre for European Economic Research immediately upon her/his appointment. She/he will remain a member of the department with a reduced teaching obligation of two credit hours per term (so called Jülicher Modell). In addition, the position includes opportunities to participate in academic self-governance.

We are looking for an individual who, thanks to his/her outstanding scientific qualifications, will strengthen both institutions’ competencies in the analysis of inequality and public policy. He/she has proven his/her expertise in the economic analysis of inequality, with a focus on labor market institutions, household dynamics, and the use of administrative data. The successful candidate has an affinity for combining micro- and macroeconomic perspectives with applied research.

We expect successful candidate to conduct research at ZEW on the causes and consequences of economic inequality, and publish this research in internationally leading academic journals. He/she will also be responsible for third-party fundraising and work on third-party funded projects. The position requires a distinguished academic record, demonstrated by high-level publications in international economic journals. The successful candidate should also have experience in policy advising as well as in the practical application of labor economics and inequality research, including contributions to national or international policy advisory bodies. The candidate should furthermore possess the ability to effectively communicate research findings to a broader audience, including policymakers, the general public, and the media.

The conditions for an appointment are stipulated in section 47 of the Act on Higher Education of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LHG). Applicants are requested to provide proof of a higher education degree, pedagogical aptitude, a doctorate and additional academic achievements proven by either a post-doctoral qualification or equivalent academic achievements from within or outside of the higher education sector.
