Prof. Dr. Cathrine Aeckerle-Willems

Cathrine is an assistant professor (Juniorprofessor) for Theoretical Econometrics at the University of Mannheim. Prior to joining the Department of Economics, she was a doctoral research fellow of the DFG research training group “Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems” at first at the University of Heidelberg and finally at the University of Mannheim where she received her PhD in Mathematics in December 2019.

Having finished her studies (diploma) in Mathematics at KIT (Karlsruhe) in 2014, she worked as a consultant at a management consulting firm for two years until she returned to academia in 2016.

Cathrine’s research focuses on nonparametric statistics. She is interested in statistics for scalar and multivariate stochastic processes and investigates data-driven methods for diffusion processes. She also studies problems from empirical process theory with applications to statistics.
