Dr. Alexander Donges is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Economics of the University of Mannheim, where he is cooperating with the Chair of Economic History (Prof. Dr. Jochen Streb).
Alexander`s research focuses on the economic history of Germany in the 19th and early 20th century. In his dissertation, he analyzed the effect of economic controls and state interventions on investment strategies in the German steel industry during the Nazi period. His current research focuses on the historic determinants of regional disparities in innovation as well as on the evolution of German patent laws in the 19th century. Furthermore, Alexander studies cartels and business concentration.
