Prof. Dr. Sebastian Siegloch

Sebastian Siegloch is professor of economics at the University of Mannheim and head of the Research Group “Social Policy and Redistribution” at the neighboring ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research. He studied economics and political sciences at the University of Cologne and at Science Po Paris. In 2013, he completed his PhD at the University of Cologne under the supervision of Clemens Fuest. After spending one year as a postdoc at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn, he became Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Mannheim in August 2014. During the academic year 2017/18, he was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley and Stanford University.

Sebastian Siegloch’s research is on the intersection of Public, Labor and Urban Economics. In a series of current projects, he investigates the efficiency and equity effects of local taxes and subsidies. His work has been published in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Public Economics, and European Economic Review, among others.
