In the current ranking of the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE – Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung), the Department of Economics is once again extremely successful: In the 19 categories of the ranking, it achieves the top position more often than any other faculty in Germany. It stands out equally in research and teaching, including the categories “research reputation”, “research funds per scientist”, “general study situation”, “teaching offerings”, “support at the beginning of studies”, and “career orientation offerings.”
In the anonymous student surveys conducted by CHE, 91.7% of the students rated the possibilities for setting individual priorities in their studies as good or very good, 93.3% rated the international orientation of the courses offered, 95.4% rated the information about studying abroad and the availability of required literature in the university library, 95.9% rated the quality of the organization of studies, and 97.5% of the students rated access to courses (no waiting times for places) as good or very good.
The CHE ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking world. Every year, one third of the study subjects are newly examined. In 2020, these are the subjects of business administration, law, social work, economics, business informatics, industrial engineering, business law, and economics. In addition to facts about studies, teaching, equipment and research, the ranking includes students' assessments of the study conditions at their university as well as professors' assessments of the research reputation of the faculties. The results are available online at ranking.zeit.de and in the current print edition of the ZEIT study guide.
